Transfer Students

Leaving one university for another can be overwhelming. We’ll help you with all of it…from the start of the admissions process to the start of your new future.

If you are currently a college student looking to become an MSOE student, follow these steps to join our community.

MSOE determines admissions decisions for transfer students based on undergraduate GPA. Below is a breakdown of minimum GPAs.

School of Business (All Programs)

  • Minimum 2.75/4.0 GPA from the last regionally accredited school attended with at least 12 credits completed.
  • Official High School transcripts and ACT or SAT are required if less than 24 total college credits have been completed.
  • If the student has been out of high school of more than five years, no ACT/SAT is required.

School of Engineering (All Programs but Civil)

  • Minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA from the last regionally accredited school attended with at least 12 credits completed.
  • Construction management requires minimum of a 2.75/4.0.
  • Official High School transcripts and ACT or SAT are required if less than 24 total college credits have been completed.
  • If the student has been out of high school of more than five years, no ACT/SAT is required.

Civil Engineering

  • Minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA from a minimum of 1 year of previous course work (30 semester hours/45 quarter hours)

School of Nursing (Nursing Only)

  • Minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA from the last regionally accredited school attended with at least 12 credits completed.
  • Official High School transcripts and ACT or SAT are required if less than 24 total college credits have been completed.
  • If the student has been out of high school of more than five years, no ACT/SAT is required.

B.S. in Nursing (Accelerated Degree)

Students must have a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited institution, which included:
Specific Core Courses

  • Medical Terminology (2 credits)
  • Anatomy and Physiology (11 credits)
  • Statistics (3 credits)
  • Growth and Development (3 credits)
  • Microbiology (4 credits)
  • Nutrition (2 credits)
  • General Education Requirements

  • Computer Class (3 credits)
  • Communications (9 credits)
  • Math (3 credits)
  • Science (15 credits)
  • Humanities (9 credits)

  • Social Sciences (18 credits)
  • Ethics (3 credits)
  • Free elective (3 credits)

Students who have not completed these courses may still submit an application to the program, but must complete these courses as a pre-requisite to the Accelerated Second Degree B.S. in Nursing program.

School of Math (All Programs)

  • Minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA from the last regionally accredited school they attended with at least 12 credits completed.
  • Official High School transcripts and ACT or SAT are required if less than 24 total college credits have been completed.
  • If the student has been out of high school of more than five years, no ACT/SAT is required.

MSOE’s online transfer manual will help you determine which of your classes will count toward your degree, however only the classes approved by the transfer committee will be included on your official MSOE transcript and count toward your graduation requirements.
