Reserves

Placing Items on Reserve

To place an item on reserve, you must complete a Reserve Request Form.

Please read over the Copyright Policies to ensure the materials you place on reserve are compliant with Copyright Law. For more information about the types of materials allowed on reserve, please see the Common Questions.

Please allow time for processing reserve requests. Print reserves may take up to 3 business days before the items are available to students. Electronic reserves may take up to a week before they are available to students.

Copyrighted items may not be placed on Reserve for more than one quarter at a time unless permission has been obtained in writing from the copyright holder, in accordance with Copyright Law.

Accessing Reserve Items

During each term, items can be placed on either Electronic Reserve OR Print Reserve- not both.

Items placed on Electronic Reserve are password protected and only available to students enrolled in the course.

Print reserve materials are kept behind the circulation desk, and can be checked out with a valid MSOE ID.

Removal of Reserve Items

After the end of each quarter, print reserve items are removed from the reserve area. Reserve items owned by faculty members will be returned. Items in electronic format will be unavailable at the end of the term.

Usage statistics (the number of times a reserve item circulates) can be supplied at the faculty member’s request.

The Library reserves the right to change these policies at any time.
