Amateur Radio Club (W9HHX)

The Amateur Radio Club, W9HHX, is an organization of amateur radio operators, and those interested in wireless communication. For the benefit of its members, the club maintains an amateur radio station capable of operating voice, and most of the new digital modes. The club also owns a UHF repeater on top of MLH that runs on 443.025/448.025 split, with a CTCSS tone of 114.8 Hz. The ARC would love to help you earn your amateur radio license if you wish or just hang out and enjoy sharing your ideas with other wireless enthusiasts. We meet weekly in CC347 during Friday free hour (Club phone 414-277-2315).

 

College Republicans

College Republicans come together to help elect Republican candidates, support the Republican agenda, and become the future leaders of the conservative movement. College Republicans are the grassroots arm of the Republican Party – the counterbalance to the unions and leftist interest groups. MSOE CRs meet biweekly in order to talk about current political issues. Being part of the CRs gives students the opportunity to learn more about the political process and how campaigns are ran. The CRs team up with Young America’s Foundation to put on the 9/11: Never Forget Project in order to keep awareness up for those we’ve lost. Members of the club also attend various guest speakers and country wide conventions together.

Ducks Unlimited

The purpose of this organization is to shall be to raise awareness to all about the loss of land to development and to join people with common interest. Ducks Unlimited mainly targets hunters but this group is open to all who faculty and students of MSOE. We would like to hold banquets and fund raisers for the non-profit organization of Ducks Unlimited. Our goal is to help Ducks Unlimited restore and manage wetlands associated with North America’s waterfowl, which in turn benefits other wildlife.

FIRST Collegiate Robotics Organization

The organization is foremost a FIRST support organization. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a program founded by inventor Dean Kamen in 1989 to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology. MSOE’s FIRST Collegiate Robotics Organization works to support the various robotics programs established by FIRST by mentoring teams of younger students in our area.

The organization’s robotics team, SCOE Robotics, participates in the Collegiate Aerial Robotics (CAR) Challenge. Over the course of the build season, in preparation for the competition, the team builds one aerial robot and one ground robot.

FCRO works to combine principles of FIRST programs into a college-level robotics team that will support other FIRST programs, inspire students of all ages, and serve to extend the reach of FIRST to emerging engineers and scientists in a way that existing college level programs cannot, through Coopetition and Gracious Professionalism.

Fishing Team

The MSOE Fishing Team competes in both local and national college bass fishing tournaments, some of which are FLW and B.A.S.S. Nationals. We also aim to educate anglers of good stewardship of our natural resources, new angling skills and techniques and strengthen student camaraderie.

International Student Association

The International Student Association (ISA), consisting of both international and American students, is a student organization dedicated to uniting both American and International students by, assisting International students adjust to life in the United States both on and off campus, organize cultural events and outings, and assist each other with language barriers.

Investment Club

The MSOE Investment Club is an on-campus organization with its main focus being teaching students how to invest money in several different ways. With bi-weekly meetings, the MIC is engaging its members in a Virtual Stock Exchange competition, as well as in discussions related to the financial markets. While trying to maximize the experience of each member, the MIC schedules tours of financial institutions and brings in several different guest speakers with an extensive background in business, finance, and economics. Please join us and let us surprise you with everything that you could learn!

MAGE (Gaming * Anime * Sci-Fi * Chess)

MAGE is MSOE’s organization of fans of gaming, sci-fi, anime and chess. Our goals include the following: to provide and promote an area for safe and fun play of all games but especially those of role playing, miniature battle and collectible card genre; to promote the playing of games for recreational purposes; to support a healthy atmosphere for the playing of games; to discuss science fiction/fantasy books, films, and television shows; and to provide a means of student/faculty interaction. We are known on campus for being highly involved in campus activities and planning events of our own.

Sexuality and Gender Alliance

SAGA is designed to promote unity between MSOE’s GLBT and Straight community in fun, supportive and informational ways. As such, we provide a safe zone for members, friends, and supporters of the GLBT community to be themselves, discuss relevant issues, and to encourage equality in rights.

Society of Model Engineers

Our main goal is to provide a place for MSOE students to expand their knowledge of the hobby of model railroading through an environment where all share a common, broad interest in trains and railroading as well as to promote the hobby in our area.

Student Music Organization

The MSOE Student Music Organization brings music to the campus by offering students, faculty, staff, and alumni to rehearse and perform together. This is a student lead organization that focuses on giving a chance for students to continue performing music while taking classes here at MSOE. We have multiple groups to participate in, including Symphony Orchestra, String Ensemble, Choir, Fundamental Frequency (Men’s Choir), and Funktion (Jazz).

Supermileage Club

The SuperMileage Vehicle (SMV) Team is an underclassman SAE project at MSOE. This team is entirely student-led by freshmen, sophomores and juniors studying a wide spread of majors including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and more. SMV is an extra-curricular project where team members work outside of their class time to design and construct a vehicle with the overall goal of high fuel economy.

Underwater Robotics

With the underwater robotics team we will build a full functional ROV that will compete in an underwater competition sponsored by MATE. In addition to building the ROV a 20 page technical report describing all functions of the ROV, along with a 15 minute spoken engineering presentation that will be given at the competition.

Unicycle Club

MSOE Unicycle Club is for anyone interested in unicycling or learning how to unicycle. Our mission is to increase public knowledge of unicycling and how awesome it is. We will teach people to ride a unicycle and have a place where fellow unicycle riders can get together to ride.

Veterans of MSOE

Veterans at MSOE is a group for members of the MSOE community who have served in the Armed Forces to get connected with each other. Members of this group are from all branches (including Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard), Veterans, ROTC participants, Reservists , Active-duty Soldiers, Family Members of Service Personnel, and those with past Military Service. Members of this group will be able to connect with each other on common issues/concerns, participate in social events, and gain valuable information from a variety of sources (including financial aid and military benefits).

Xtreme Club

The MSOE Xtreme club is dedicated to action sports such as snowboarding, skiing, wake-boarding, and mountain biking. From snowboarding trips the Blackjack in Upper Peninsula Michigan to mountain biking trips around the city of Milwaukee, we have everything to fulfill your adrenaline needs! Come see us at the first Org Fair every school year, sign up for the mailing list and keep in touch with our events!
