Sample Bequest Language

When remembering MSOE in your planned giving, whether a will or trust, please use the following language:

  1. Outright bequest in a will:
    1. Specific dollar amount: “I bequeath the sum of $___ to Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, WI, to be used or disposed of as its Board of Regents in its sole discretion deems appropriate.”
    2. Specific property (personal property): “I bequeath (description of the property) to Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, WI to be used or disposed of as its Board of Regents in its sole discretion deems appropriate.”
    3. Specific property (real estate): “I devise all of my right, title and interest in and to the real estate located at (description of the property) to Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, WI to be used or disposed of as its Board of Regents in its sole discretion deems appropriate.”
    4. A share of the estate: “I devise and bequeath (all/or ___%) of the remainder of my property to Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, WI, to be used or disposed of as its Board of Regents in its sole discretion deems appropriate.”
  2. Conditional bequest in a will:

“If my spouse does not survive me, I bequeath the sum of $___ to Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee, WI to be used or disposed of as the Board of Regents in its sole discretion deems appropriate.”
