MSOE Winter Softball Camps

2 Sessions per day

Session 1    9-11:30am; Hitting and Infield Defense
Session 2    12:30-3pm; Pitching and Catching

Hitting/Fielding Camps and Pitching/Catching Camps includes…

  • T-Shirt for all campers that enroll by January 4th, 2014
  • Quality coaching from MSOE coaches and players
  • 2.5 hours of instruction and practice per session in a quality facility.

INSTRUCTION


January 18 

Hitting and Infield defense 9am to 11:30 am:  Hitting instruction will include teaching specific philosophy behind effective hitting with practice done during partner station work with an MSOE softball player and two rounds of hitting in a batting cage versus a pitching machine.  Players are encouraged to bring their own bat if possible. 

Pitching and Catching 12:30pm to 3pm: Campers will be broken up into two pitching groups based on experience and a catchers group.  In addition to pitching there will be a session on pitching defense.    

January 25

Hitting and Infield defense with an emphasis on bunting and slapping 9am to 11:30am:  In addition to instruction on hitting and infield defense there will be an emphasis on proper slap and bunt technique on offense and defense strategies used during slap and bunt game situations.

Pitching and Catching 12:30pm to 3pm: Campers will be broken up into two pitching groups based on experience and a catchers group.  In addition to pitching there will be a session on pitching defense.

February 1 

Hitting and Infield defense (includes individual video on a flash drive and recorded skill times) 9am to 11:30 am.  This camp will include instruction and practice time but in addition campers will receive a flash drive with video clips of them hitting in the cage from two angles, fielding ground *****, and making throws in the infield.  Also, they will receive a sheet with their home to first and home to home times.

Pitching and Catching (includes video on a flash drive of pitching and catching skills and recorded skill times) 12:30pm to 3pm: This camp will include instruction and practice time but in addition each camper will receive a flash drive of them pitching or catching from various angles.  Catchers will also have their “pop to pop” time recorded and pitchers will have the velocity of various pitches recorded.
