The Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve program may be available to you if you are a member of the Selected Reserve. The Selected Reserve includes the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard andthe Air National Guard.  You may be entitled to receive up to 36 months of education benefits. How do I apply for Chapter 1606 Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve Benefits?

 

1. Complete VA Form 22-1990, Application for Educational Benefits which can be completed online at Veterans Online Application (VONAPP) website.  Please submit a copy of the application to MSOE's Veteran's Certifying Official once completed online.
   
   OR
   
   If you have previously received VA educational benefits, you will need to complete VA Form 22-1995, Request for Change of Program or Place of Training Form which can be completed online at Veterans Online Application (VONAPP) website.  Please submit a copy of the application to MSOE's Veteran's Certifying Official once completed online.
2. Submit a copy of your DD Form 2384-1, Notice of Basic Eligibility to MSOE's Financial Aid Office in CC-431. 
3. Complete and submit MSOE's Veterans Benefits Payment Agreement which is available for download and printing or a copy may be picked up in the MSOE Financial Aid Office. This must be done every academic year if you wish to have MSOE certify your benefits for the year.  

Payment Information

The monthly benefit paid to you is based on the type of training you are in.  If you are attending school, your payment is based on your training time.  For payment charts, please visit GI BillEducation Benefit Payment Rates.

The VA will send you a benefits award letter once they have confirmed your eligibility. In order to receive the funding listed in that award letter you will be required to certify your enrollment with the VA each month online at Web Automated Verification of Enrollment or by Interactive Voice Response (IVR) by calling (877) 823-2378.
