Chapter 35 Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition, or who died while on active duty or as a result of a service related condition. The program offers up to 45 months of education benefits.

How do I apply for Chapter 35 Survivors' & Dependents' Educational Assistance Benefits?
- Complete VA Form 22-5490, Application for
Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance can be obtained from
MSOE's Financial Aid Office, can be downloaded from the DVA
GI Bill Web site, or you can complete it online at the DVA Veterans
Online Application Web site.
OR
If you have previously received VA educational benefits, you will need to complete VA Form 22-5495, Request for Change of Program or Place of Training Form. - Submit a copy of veterans' DD-214 to the from MSOE's Financial Aid Office.
- If a dependent of the veteran, submit a birth certificate.
OR
If a spouse of the dependent, submit a marriage certificate. - Complete and submit MSOE's Veterans Benefits Payment Agreement which is available for download and printing or a copy may be picked up in the MSOE Financial Aid Office. This must be done every academic year if you wish to have MSOE certify your benefits for the year.
