Job Description:
The video production assistant performs entry level duties providing the opportunity for professional training in video/photo production capacities. As a video production assistant you will work with scriptwriters, videographers and clients performing a wide range of activities in both production and post-production phases of video development.
Video production will include recording of video (and occasionally photography) of campus events and activities, recording interviews on location, assisting staff with equipment setup, audio recording, camera operation; assisting staff videographer and scriptwriter during the actual shoot, ranging from sound assistance to teleprompter assistance, script logging and a variety of grip duties. Post-production activities include logging footage, creating rough and finished edits, creating electronic files from finished video suitable for DVD production or website use.
This is a 40 hour per week position during the summer. Preferred qualification include:
- General knowledge of video production process and broadcasting environment.
- Strong technical and visual art skills.
- Experience using Adobe PhotoShop, MS Office products.
- Experience editing with Final Cut Pro (or similar nonlinear editing software).
- Experience operating video cameras and recording audio.
