We are now offering intensive English-as-a-Second (ESL) language classes on campus with our partners at Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC). The intensive program is for students that have intermediate and advanced levels of English. A TOEFL and IELTS may not be required to determine your admission to the ESL program. To apply for the program please visit the website.
In our Learning Resource Center, we offer assistance to all
students seeking additional English-related support. This is a free service
available to all degree-seeking students at MSOE.
Students who score between 61-78 Internet based (173-212 computer based) on the TOEFL, which is below the regular acceptance TOEFL score, or between 5-6 on the IELTS exam, may enroll in the ESL Bridge program for undergraduate students at MSOE. Students admitted to MSOE in the ESL Bridge program will begin classes at MSOE by taking one speaking/listening English course and one reading/writing English course per term for a total of three terms, along with two courses within their chosen MSOE major.
After students have satisfactorily completed all six ESL courses and obtained satisfactory grades in all the MSOE courses in their first year of study, the students will be able to continue studying classes within their major. Due to the design of this program, it may take longer than four years to graduate in this program.
Please contact the Learning Resource Center for more information about MSOE's Bridge ESL Program. The LRC can also help international students that would like extra assistance in English reading, writing, and speech. The LRC contact is:
