All new U.S. and international students participate in an orientation program
prior to the fall quarter, which marks the official beginning of an academic
year. This week long program is designed to make each student's adjustment to
campus easier. The international admission counselor, the international
student advisor and the English-as-a-Second-Language coordinator conduct an
orientation session specifically for new international students before the
beginning of the fall quarter. It is required that all new international
students arrive on campus approximately one (1) week prior to classes starting
and attend the orientation program. This will give them time to adjust to their
new home and community.
For international students arriving in the Spring, Summer, or Winter
quarters, an individualized tour of campus and orientation will be provided. A
student ambassador from the International Student Association (ISA) will also be
provided to help the new student adjust to the city of Milwaukee and MSOE.
International student advising and registration for classes: (online during summer)
New international students will be advised for classes for the Fall quarter and will register for the classes they are going to take. Once the $175 enrollment deposit is submitted, students will receive a copy of their class schedule. Students will have the opportunity to meet with academic advisors during orientation week to look at their academic plan, and to change class schedules if necessary.
International student residence hall move-in: (August 23 to August 29, 2011)
Students living on-campus who have submitted housing applications can move into the Residence Halls starting Tuesday, August 23, 2011. If you have submitted the housing application and enrollment deposit, you will receive an email with your room number assignment and roommate contact information.
Welcome Week orientation: (August 29 to September 2, 2011)
New incoming international students are required to be present for the international student session. Orientation is free for all international students. Returning international students are encouraged to attend.
