Yes, we're in Software Engineering. But, software engineering is very closely related with Computer Science. And Computer Science is celebrating this week. Reposting from the Computing Community Consortium blog:
"Today, December 9, 2013, is Grace Murray Hopper’s Birthday (she would be 107 years old) and the beginning of Computer Science Education Week. These events are being commemorated and celebrated in many ways throughout the country. Even President Obama is getting involved with his own video. As he says,
Don’t just buy a new videogame, make one. Don’t just download the latest app, help design it. Don’t just play on your phone, program it.
Hadi Partovi is the founder of Code.org, the organization bringing us The Hour of Code, a way to engage every student in the country in computer science for one hour this week. He says,
If you told me our movement would grow so powerful that it’d get a Google Doodle, that every Apple retail store in America would host an Hour of Code workshop and that the President himself would call on every student to learn to program (matched by officials on the other side of the aisle), I would’ve thought you were crazy too.
But we’re not crazy, as these events and more are all happening this week. Watch this video to see people from all over get involved in The Hour of Code. What are you doing to be a part of Computer Science Education Week?
