St. Patrick's Week is a tradition that goes back to the 1930s at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and is celebrated every March. St. Patrick is recognized as the patron saint of engineers, and in his honor student organizations compete against one another in a variety of engineering and lighthearted competitions. Teams hope to win prizes and recognition for their organizations and also compete for the honor of being selected as a member of the St. Patrick's court. Faculty and Staff join in the tradition, as they try to prevent the (green team) students from doing well in the competitions by fielding their own red team known as the Fir Darrig.
Some of the traditional events that take place during the week include: a carnival, engineering olympics, egg drop competition, scavenger hunt, proclamation signing event, and a St. Patrick's dance.
