Benefits of MSOE degree
My B.S. Degree in Biomedical Engineering Opens a lot of doors to furthering my post secondary education. With such a well rounded education I feel that the opportunities that will be available to me after I graduate are almost limitless; especially since according to the US Department of Labor, biomedical engineers' job outlook is supposed to be increasing by 21% over the next decade. That means that even if I change my mind about becoming an M.D./Ph.D, I still have many other options. It is this flexibility in career choice that makes the BE degree from MSOE so valuable.
What is the one thing you want prospective students to know?
I came from a very underprivileged neighborhood and a very poor performing high school. When I got to MSOE I didn't feel like I was very prepared to become an engineer. But with the support of MSOE's faculty and staff, along with invaluable resources such as the LRC, I have dug myself out of what was once a deep academic rut to become my class's Group Manager.
I see myself at MSOE as somebody truly living the American dream, that being that if you truly want to succeed, and are willing to put for the effort, at MSOE it is possible. The bottom line is that while the course work is quite demanding, the ends most definitely justify the means.
