Why did you pick MSOE?
I first looked into MSOE on a recommendation from the director of cardiology at the hospital I was working at back home. She knew I was looking into nursing schools and explained that MSOE was one of the “Midwest’s best kept secrets for nursing.” After further investigation, I really liked the smaller class sizes and atmosphere that MSOE had to offer. It was important to me to attend a university where everyone was equally motivated to succeed, and MSOE has given me that opportunity.

What do you like about MSOE?
I would have to say the best part about MSOE is the professors. I have been impressed time after time with the amount of hard work that the they put into the courses here at MSOE. The professors play such a significant role in enhancing student learning. They are always willing to give extra help when needed and even make an effort to know each student by name.

What would you tell someone who is considering coming to MSOE?

MSOE is a lot like anything else in that the more you put it, the more you get out. MSOE’s nursing program is difficult, but the hard work will pay off in the end. Throughout my clinical experiences so far at MSOE, it has been well established that hospitals in the Milwaukee area seek out MSOE graduates because of the preparedness they have immediately after graduation. Be prepared to work hard, but keep in mind that MSOE is a great university that will provide you with an excellent education.

What do you do in your free time?

Being in downtown Milwaukee definitely has its advantages. There is always something to do nearby. When the weather is nice it is always fun to walk down to the lake and enjoy some green space. The Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee  Public Museum, and many restaurants and other local attractions are also all within walking distance. I also work part time at the MSOE Walter Schroeder Library and will be a resident advisor for the 5th floor of the Roy W. Johnson residence hall.

Any groups or clubs you’re involved in?
I am currently a member of the Student Nurses Association. This is a great place for the nursing students to meet with their peers and also become introduced to upper classmen. There are various activities offered throughout the year through this organization, such as the end of the year Brewer’s game outing.
