Why did you choose MSOE?
MSOE offered a business degree at a university centered around technology. I’m a business owner and I’m looking into building products in the field of alternative energies. Having contacts here in various divisions of engineering is a great help to me.
What do you like about MSOE?
Here, there’s very little drama. The food isn’t bad and Milwaukee offers a great number of things to do.
Why did you pick international business as your major?
I picked international business because I feel that I am better suited to work in business than engineering. One day I would like to own a business and I feel I would be better suited to study business and outsource for any necessary engineering, rather than the other way around. I do plan on getting some background in engineering before graduating.
What would you tell someone who is considering coming to MSOE?
This school is a proving ground. Be prepared to work for your degree.
What do you do in your free time?
I am a private pilot and I’ve been logging hours in a Cessna 172. I also am a certified SCUBA diver. Besides that, I love skiing and I occasionally go paintballing. I’m also constantly looking into new business ideas and building new projects.
Any groups or clubs you’re involved in?
I’m not involved with any clubs or groups. I wasn’t really involved in high school, either--I spent most of the time training for my pilot’s license and into various small business ventures, including fabricating and selling paint grenades for paintball, and building and delivering advertisements for local businesses. My registered business name is Defiance, LLC and while I haven't invested much money into my ventures, I’ve managed to be profitable. I’m currently designing a wind turbine for residential use that will have several advantages, such as being grid tied (unlike most small turbines on the market) and having user-replaceable components. That’s the direction I want my business to go in the future.
