Major: Computer Engineering
Class: 2012
Home town: Brookfield, Wis.
Why did you pick MSOE?
I picked MSOE because it offered a rigorous and in-depth degree in computer engineering as well as the high job-placement rate after graduation. The computer engineering program at MSOE is much more focused on computer hardware and more of the inner workings of computers than a computer science degree offered elsewhere. Everyone I talked to who went to MSOE or knew someone who did always had the best things to say about it.
What do you like about MSOE?
I love the attention to detail shown by professors as well as the individual attention they are willing to give. Being a smaller school, the opportunity to work one-on-one with a professor is very valuable in increasing your understanding of whatever material you are studying. Also, I like that students start material specific to their major right away, often as early as first or second quarter of their freshman year.
What would you tell someone who is considering coming to MSOE?
If you are serious about an engineering degree, this is undoubtedly the university to go to.
What do you do in your free time?
I am a member of a rock climbing gym in Pewaukee, Wis. and climb there often. I also play and teach violin professionally as a part of our family business. I enjoy following Formula 1 and sports car racing in the spring and summer as well as football in the winter.
