Michael Jasperson

Major: Biomedical Engineering

Class: 2011

Home town: Deer Park, Wis.

Why did you pick MSOE?
I wanted to do biomedical engineering but there are very few accredited schools. MSOE happens to be one of them. The class sizes are small, so you can get to know your professors. And it didn't hurt that Milwaukee is a five hour drive from home.

What do you like about MSOE?
The classes are challenging but interesting, and you can learn a lot. I like the smaller size of the campus, as well as the small class sizes. Most of your classmates are also pretty smart, and you will be amazed with what some of them can do.

What would you tell someone who is considering coming to MSOE?
Make sure that you really want to be an engineer. While we don't have very many majors, we are really good at what we do.

What do you do in your free time?
I like to hang out, watch movies and work out. I'm on the track team and hold the school records in the weight throw and the hammer throw. I placed second at conference in each this last year, and I am hoping to win conference in both next year.

Any groups or clubs you're involved in?
I am involved with Healthcare Without Borders, and went on a trip to El Salvador with them last Thanksgiving and assisted wiring electricity in a clinic. I am also the vice president of the powerlifting club, and am hoping to win the state meet as a team.
