Why did you pick MSOE?
I liked the focus on hands-on engineering and wanted to avoid as many English classes as possible.
What do you like about MSOE?
The best thing about MSOE is the devotion to the students and to the learning process.
What would you tell someone who is considering coming to MSOE?
This is not a place for the faint of heart. MSOE will expect passion from you and in return you will be well rewarded in the education you receive, in the opportunities you will have within industry, and in the experience as a whole.
What do you do in your job with We Energies?
I am a co-op engineer for We Energies, a position I obtained thanks in part to the Career Fair. I work for the Substation Engineering group, which is responsible for new construction, maintenance and upgrades to all distribution substations. I am currently working on a project to replace a 34.5kV switch gear building and everything in it at one of our smaller stations. This project offers some interesting challenges in that the new gear will no longer be housed inside, which means I will be designing a new high side termination enclosure for the transformer and various structures to support the new gear.
What do you do in your free time?
I like to tinker with just about anything; I always have some gadget taken apart. I also spend time hanging out with my friends and playing video games.
Any groups or clubs you’re involved in?
Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
