Major: Mechanical Engineering
Class: 2010
Jeremy Off graduated from MSOE in May 2010 with a degree in mechanical engineering. A native of Hartford, Wis., Off chose MSOE “because the environment was similar to my high school: small class sizes, teachers who know their students, and a lot of interactive lab settings.”
After graduation, Jeremy moved to Green Bay, Wis., where he is working as the sole engineer at Robinson Metals Inc. He anticipates his role in the company to expand and eventually he would like to be the head of the Engineering Department.
While at MSOE, Off worked at the Rapid Prototyping Center (RPC) as an undergraduate research assistant. He also played basketball with the MSOE men’s NCAA Division III team. Off ranks his involvement with the basketball team as his best experience at MSOE. “I met and became friends with an unbelievable group of guys, sharing just about every free minute of my day during the season with them.”
According to Off, his family has played a huge role in his success at MSOE. He also credits the Wisconsin Tuition Grant (WTG) with assisting him to finance his education at MSOE. According to Off, the WTG “reduced my student loan debt by actually allowing me to decline the student loans I previously accepted.”
Off has truly made the most of his time at MSOE. “I have learned how to accept challenges and respond to adversity. Most importantly, I’ve learned how to manage my time effectively.” Off has the following advice to incoming freshmen: “Enjoy your years here at MSOE because before you know it you will be ordering your cap and gown. Make sure to take plenty of mental and physical snapshots along the way!”
