MSOE Student is Milwaukee Bucks' Biggest Fan

According to MSOE student Dan Wimann, there’s nothing more exciting than cheering for the Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center. At the beginning of the 2009-2010 season Wimann joined Squad 6, a group of hand-selected fans who help to create a home-court advantage for the Bucks by “Creating as much noise as possible or coming up with clever chants towards opposing players,” said Wimann. Wimann became involved with Squad 6 after he looked into an advertisement he saw on the Bucks’ website.  “All I had to do was show up at the Bradley Center for a tryout and prove why I was worthy of receiving free season tickets.

When asked about his favorite memory as a member of Squad 6, Wimann stated, “Singing the song ‘Dude Looks Like a Lady’, or causing more than five NBA teams and the NBA head office to complain about the stadium horn I use.” As a member of Squad 6 he is expected to attend nearly all home games, which can be challenging during finals week or breaks. Even though Squad 6 requires a lot of time and dedication, Wimann said it has been one of the best experiences of his life.

A native of Janesville, Wis., Wimann chose MSOE due to location, reputation, and the amount of financial assistance offered by the university. He is majoring in business management and anticipates graduating from MSOE in 2013. Wimann is an avid sports fan and would like to work for either the Milwaukee Bucks or the Milwaukee Brewers in a marketing role after graduation. “I have always been a sports fan, and I find marketing very interesting. Combining the two would be the ideal situation for me,” said Wimann.
