Major: Electrical Engineering

Class: 2011

Hometown: Omro, Wis.

Why did you choose MSOE? Were you happy with your decision?
I chose MSOE because it is a well-known school for engineering and offered a lot of hands-on experience. I also liked that it is a smaller school so I wouldn't be "just a number" here.

I believe MSOE was a really good fit for me and I made the right decision to come here!

What were you involved in on campus?

I was the basketball team and tried to get involved with some of the clubs on campus. I was an IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) member, and participated in Circle K and Ecology Club, among others.

What type of scholarships did you have?

I had MSOE scholarships along with the Elk's Most Valuable Student Scholarship, an Omro Community Scholarship from my high school and a scholarship for being valedictorian of my graduating high school class.

What did the scholarships do for you?

The generous scholarships that I received really made a difference! They helped pay for my education, books, room and board and relieved some of my worries of how I would pay for the great education MSOE has to offer.

What was your favorite memory of MSOE?

I guess my favorite MSOE memories are the hockey games. I never watched a hockey game before coming here, and the atmosphere is incredible! It's fun to go with a group and get a little rowdy cheering on the team---it makes for a really good time.

Beyond academics, what have you learned at MSOE?

I've learned that attitude is just as important as action. The attitude you bring to work, class, or practice really reflects the kind of person you are and work ethic you have. A good attitude goes a long way!!!

What have you liked most about your MSOE experience?

I really liked the small college feel at MSOE. My professors knew be me by name and on a more personal level and they work hard to give you every opportunity to succeed.

What do you hope to do now that you've graduated?

I'm really passionate about alternative energies! Wind turbines fascinate me and I'd love to work with them one day, or with any other type of green energy.
