Jesse Daily (pictured right) started CORE Consulting with his business partner Matthew Buerosse (pictured left) in April, 2007. In a little more than two years, the business has grown to a staff of more than 30 employees and revenues approaching $2 million. The idea for the company formed while they were working for a previous employer. “We wanted to break off and grow our own idea of what we believed the company could be,” said Daily. In 2009, Daily and Buerosse were recipients of BizTimes’ Bravo! Entrepreneur Award, which recognizes dynamic and innovative company leaders.
CORE Consulting pairs local, certified engineers with companies looking to fill open positions. Daily, who graduated in 2001 with a degree in mechanical engineering technology and a minor in management, attributes some of his success to his MSOE education. “My experience at MSOE, in the mechanical engineering technology and the business program, offered me the insight and steps it takes to be a successful business owner, and to do the right thing when working in a company of our nature.”
Daily sees a strong need for engineers with good communication skills and some business knowledge. “We have seen a huge influx of companies looking for technical-minded people who can communicate with skill. Engineers are no longer just the ‘guys in the cube.’”
In addition, Daily advises current students to keep their eyes on the prize and not lose touch with their career goals. “I wanted a foundation that I knew would produce results, and recognized the investment MSOE was going to be for my career. I truly believe that MSOE was the best thing I have ever done for myself,” Daily noted.
