Class: 2008
Hometown: Butler, Wis.

Has: A caring spirit that makes her a good listener
Lisa admits she was surprised when she heard about the nursing program at MSOE, a university where her father, uncle and aunt had all studied engineering.
"I am so glad I came here! I feel my education here is better than I could have gotten anywhere else," she said.
Starting clinicals, such as surgery, post-partum, outpatient surgery, labor and delivery, in-patient and chronic health issues, in her sophomore year was a major benefit. Lisa also enjoys being in an atmosphere where the classes are small, she knows most of her classmates and they work well together.
"I believe it is a jewel and I am very proud to be a part of it."
Lisa says that while the coursework is demanding, the nursing faculty members are very caring, and she sees why they became nurses.
"It's kind of sad that some are teaching instead of practicing, because I know that they were really good nurses. But it's good to be educated by people who are so caring. They go above and beyond."
After graduation, Lisa got a job as an ICU staff nurse with Aurora Sinai Medical Center. The MSOE Critical Care Scholar Externship she received during school helped her land the position upon graduation. When asked if her educated prepared her for the workplace, Lisa said simply, "absolutely."
