For their senior design project, members of the Water Warriors team developed an app for Android devices in which players can compete in a water-themed laser-tag game. Users can interact with other players who have the app, and through the use of the device’s built-in GPS systems, the app can calculate when players have “hit” each other.
Software engineering major and team member Patrick Donlan feels better prepared for his job in the technical development program at Liberty Mutual after graduation. “Our senior design project definitely made me feel more prepared for my future career. The way we had structured our work schedule into small, agile, bursts of development allowed for a good example of how some companies also perform development,” he said.
Charles Martin Yamat, another software engineering major and team member, appreciated the learning experience. “Senior Design is an amazing experience. Having a project to work on for an entire year gives a unique perspective as you go on with a project from the very beginning to what you end with,” he said.
