How long have you been going to Great Books?
I've been attending the Great Book Dinner and Discussions since 1997.
What have been your favorite books so far?
Some of my favorites have been Bel Canto by Ann Patchett; Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini; and The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
What do you like about Great Books?
Reading is one of my passions. Great Book Dinner and Discussions allows me to spend an evening with people who share that passion. I've made many good, long-lasting friendships with people I've met there. I come away with a better understanding of the book through the discussions. Whether I enjoyed the book or not, I have new insights and points of view about it. The book selections sometimes take me out of my comfort zone. It makes me grow as a reader to read books I otherwise might never have discovered.
What would you say to someone who is thinking about going?
Great Books is a wonderful experience. You spend an evening with people who love reading. The meals are delicious. The discussions are lively and worthwhile. You'll come away with a better understanding of the book and meet great people.
