How long have you been going to Great Books?
I have been going to Great Books for three years now - I started attending in the fall of 2009 and have only missed one discussion since then, because I was sick on that particular day.
What have been your favorite books?
My favorite picks are as follows: 1) The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows; 2) The Help by Kathryn Stockett; and 3) Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
What do you like about Great Books?
I get inspired to read books that I would probably never pick up otherwise. I always come away with new insights after a discussion - it is interesting to see what somebody else thinks about a particular book, and that person might have a completely different view of the book. The dinner part is very nice - the food is excellent.
What you would say to someone who is thinking about going?
You will not be disappointed! You will get a really good multi-course meal and the discussion will be lively and informative. It is worth it.
