Major: Software Engineering
Class: 2013
Where are you from?
Greenfield, Wis.
What do you like about the SE program?
I like the heavy focus on program design and the developing process, as well as the hands-on experience we get while working in a development team during our junior and senior years.
Why did you choose SE as your major?
I first became interested in programming back in my junior year of high school. I like the idea of one day being able to create complex software applications similar to the ones we all use daily (and maybe take for granted). Also, software is a field of growing demand and that bit of job security is a big perk.
Why did you choose MSOE?
The challenge of meeting higher expectations and the concentration of real-world preparation. MSOE stood out from other universities because the engineering programs really prepare students for both the knowledge and the experience they will need for their chosen career paths.
What type of advice would you give someone who is considering attending MSOE?
Work hard and stay focused, but remember to have a little fun. Don’t try and coast through classes at MSOE, it won’t get you far—it’s a challenging curriculum, but extremely rewarding.
What do you do in your free time?
I will admit that I spend too much of my time surfing the Internet, but otherwise I enjoy drawing and I’m a bit of a movie buff.
