Major: Management Information Systems
Class: 2014
Where are you from?
I am from a small town about three hours north of Milwaukee, on the peninsula of Wisconsin called Baileys Harbor.
What do you like about the MIS program?
There are heavy doses of both business and technical classes with some interesting peripheral classes sprinkled in. There is also enough flexibility within the program to customize it based on personal preferences. For instance, I am able to take more technical classes in the software engineering department that supplement my core curriculum and count towards my overall major.
Why did you choose MIS as your major?
I love the business environment but I am a techie at heart. MIS combines those two subjects nicely.
Why did you choose MSOE?
I chose MSOE because it allowed me access to incredibly knowledgeable professors and advisors that have helped me to create the ultimate academic experience. The relationships I have with my professors have helped me grow and develop my skill set on a more individual level that you can’t find at a larger university.
What type of advice would you give someone who is considering attending MSOE?
This is a school where you will be well-known by your professors and challenged in many ways. If you want a generic college experience, this isn’t the school for you. You will have to work hard but you will be developed more than you might thought possible.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time I usually read, hang out with friends or explore Milwaukee.
