My name is Hedy Yan and I am a nursing student from Shanghai, China. I chose MSOE because it has an excellent nursing program and offers direct admission into the nursing program with no waiting lists. I am able to start my clinicals in my second year, and I feel I am in control of my career because I get hands-on practice so early.
MSOE is located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. I can enjoy the small campus and explore the city in my free time. MSOE has small class sizes (20 students on average). Professors are easy to approach and they motivate me to try harder and to show my best work. They are willing to help me outside of class.
Since MSOE uses a fixed grading scale, there is no need to compete with your classmates. We work together after class and support each other. If I struggle with some of my classes, I do not hesitate to ask my professor for help or to visit the Learning Resource Center , which offers tutoring and other learning support for free.
As a nursing student, I know that physical activities are important to health. The Kern Center provides excellent facilities that engage me to work out consistently. You can go ice skating at the Kern Center in the winter or go on a walk with friends to Lake Michigan in the summer. I also love downtown Milwaukee, there is so much to explore.
