What is your current job title/name of the company?
Project Manager at Gilbane Building Company
Has your MSOE education prepared you for the workforce? If so, how? Definitely! MSOE prepares you for the workforce in two ways. It provides you the necessary foundation of knowledge to be prepared when entering the workforce. Secondly, it provide you the skills and abilities to effectively integrate into the workforce (problem solving, critical thinking skills, technical skills, etc).
Do you find that employers have a favorable image of MSOE graduates?
From my experience, employers seek out MSOE graduates above other skills because of how MSOE prepares individuals for the workforce.
What advice do you have for current or prospective MSOE students?
MSOE provides you the opportunity to be successful but you need to "take the bull by the horns"! College is a life experience, don't forget there is a lot of opportunity to learn outside of the classroom (organizations, new experiences, studying abroad, etc).
What are your tips for success?
- Work hard.
- Join organizations and competitions.
- College is what you make of it!
- HAVE FUN! You need to your college years too!
- The professors that may frustrate your the most will likely also teach you the most!
As a professor at MSOE, I really enjoy providing MSOE students with real life experiences while in the classroom. Most MSOE professors continue to work in the industry as consultants, etc and are able to effectively connect the principles of the class to real life experiences.
