A Self-Paced Tutorial
AE-100: Introduction to Architectural Engineering and Construction Management
AE-100 features two components. The orientation component serves as an introduction to MSOE resources and policies. The basic goals include the development of academic, personal and interpersonal skills that help students to succeed in college.
The Architectural Engineering and Construction Management component features a hands-on design project. The design project is a hands-on, academic exercise; the project does not indicate an MSOE endorsement and the project is not part of the college's campus master plan.
Purpose of the Library Tutorial
In support of AE-100, this tutorial is intended to introduce AE-100 students to two types of library resources:
- General library resources: These are library resources that can be employed to locate materials for all classes at MSOE;
- Specific library resources: These are specific library resources that can be employed to locate materials for AE courses and for the design project in the AE-100 course.
For example, in preparation for your design project, you will be asked to locate and sketch specific examples of commercial building components. You will then be asked to locate and to use any relevant standards, government rules and regulations, architectural design guidelines, and manufacturers' catalogs and specifications sheets that can be applied to the components. This tutorial should help you to identify relevant information.
