MSOE's Library subscribes to a number of electronic book databases. The databases contain complete copies of books that are accessible directly from your computer. For a complete list of all the electronic book databases, visit Search for Books and More.
Knovel Engineering & Scientific References
Knovel Engineering & Scientific Online References is a database of electronic books devoted to engineering and other scientific subject areas. This database features the full content of books as published.
E-books available in this database are standard texts and reference books published by leading publishers. Over 1200 books are available via this database. New books are regularly added to this resource. One title of interest is Engineering Materials for Biomedical Applications by Teoh Swee Hin, 2004.
Books are available in the following subject areas:
- Aerospace & Radar Technology
- Civil Engineering & Construction Materials
- Electrical & Power Engineering
- Electronics & Semiconductors
- Environment & Environmental Engineering
- General Engineering & Engineering Management
- Mechanics & Mechanical Engineering
- Oil & Gas Engineering
- Change search "All Content" to "My Subscription" in order to search only the books that the library subscribes to.
- Take 15 minutes to watch the Knovel Tutorials which can be found under the Support tab in the upper right-side corner. These short, well-made videos will give you tips on how to get the most out of this very powerful database.
- Use Graphs Equations Tables (G.E.T.) Search to find interactive tables to search for properties of a substance.
- This service also features powerful tools to work with the data in some of the online books. For example, all information in tables is "live" and can be sorted by clicking on any column heading. Data can be imported in Excel, Word, and other programs. Finally, for some books, hotlinked equations are available. These equations invoke a graphing applet that can be used to plot new points on a graph, and then export the new results into different formats.
