Interlibrary Loan and InfoPass

During the course of researching, it is not unusual for an MSEM student to locate a citation for a document (e.g., a book, an article, a special report, etc.) that is not owned by the MSOE library or is not accessible through the MSOE library's electronic resources.

Staff of the MSOE library are happy to obtain copies of these documents for MSEM students through the Interlibrary Loan service. In the case of books located in area libraries, students may also have the option of using an InfoPass.

Interlibrary Loan

  • If the MSOE Library does not own a book, article or other item that you need, generally the item can be obtained through Interlibrary Loan. The service is free.
  • If you use Interlibrary Loan, try to initiate requests as soon as you possibly can. The turn-around time for obtaining a document through the Interlibrary Loan service can vary, but the average turn-around time is five to seven working days.
  • Click here to read about Interlibrary Loan and InfoPass policies and procedures.
  • For information about Interlibrary Loan or to make an Interlibrary Loan request (or requests), contact the library's main telephone number at 414-277-7182 and ask for help with Interlibrary Loan. You may also send requests and questions via email.

InfoPass

  • InfoPass allows members of the MSOE community to check out circulating items from over 120 member libraries in the metro Milwaukee area. You must come to the MSOE Walter Schroeder Library to pick up an InfoPass to use at the other library. Items will check out for the time period specified by the loaning library. Up to three items can be borrowed, and must be returned to the loaning library by the date due. Ask a librarian about InfoPass.
