Checking Out and Returning Books
Current faculty, staff and students can borrow materials from the Walter Schroeder Library if they present a valid MSOE ID at the Circulation Desk. MSOE alumni may obtain a Special Borrower's card from the library which allows them to check out library materials. The library also honors valid INFOPASS and Interlibrary Loan forms.
Library items can be returned to the Circulation Desk in the library
during regular library hours. After hours, there is a return box
located to the right of the Library Building's main doors. We ask that you return library materials as soon as you are finished with them so they can be available to other library users.
Renewals and Recalls
General collection materials can be renewed up to two times if they have not been requested by another person in the meantime. You can renew library materials over the phone by calling (414)277-7180, or in person at the library's circulation desk. You can also renew items online by checking your account in the library catalog. Remember to record the new due date in the back of the book!
Library items may be recalled at any time. In the event that an item you checked out is recalled, you will be notified and will be expected to return the item promptly.
Overdues and Fines
The general collection fine is $.25 a day. There is no fine for the first 3 days an item is overdue. Beginning the 4th, day there will be a $1.00 fine plus $.25 each day thereafter. Reserve books returned late will be charged $1.00 per day. Late returns on Entertainment DVDs and Audiovisual Materials will mean a $1.00 per day fine.
Overdue materials that are not returned are considered lost by you and you will be billed from the Student Accounts for the cost of replacement plus a processing fee and the overdue fine.
