Library resources that will help you enrich your teaching skills and stay current in education technologies, philosophies and practices.


Scholarly Content Resources for Online Teaching

Connexions  An environment for collaboratively developing, freely sharing, and rapidly publishing scholarly content on the Web. This site contains educational materials for everyone-from children to college students to professionals- organized in small modules that are easily connected into larger collections or courses. All content is free to use and reuse under the Creative Commons "attribution" license.

 

Creative Commons  A nonprofit corporation dedicated to making it easier for people to share and build on the work of others, consistent with the rules of copyright. They provide free licenses and other legal tools to mark creative work with the freedom the creator wants it to carry, so others can share, remix, use commercially, or any combination thereof.


Borrowing Privileges

Faculty may check out library books for 80 days and periodicals can be checked out for 3 days.


Recommend Books, Journals and Educational DVDs

If you know of quality resources that are not part of our collection, please fill out a suggestion form. We welcome your input!


Reserves

Place articles, books, syllabi etc. on reserve for short-term (4 hours to 5 days) loans. For more information about this, please see our Reserves Policies.

Document Delivery Service

Request articles or books from the library and we will deliver them directly to you. Email a list of citations to the ILL Librarian. Items owned by the library can be filled within 24 hours during the week, items not owned by the library will be ordered through Interlibrary Loan, a service that may take up to two weeks.


Plagiarism Checks

The library subscribes to TurnItIn, a plagiarism detection program. We also use other methods to detect plagiarism. Call us at (414) 227-7180 to request more information.


Classroom Instruction

Have a librarian come to your class to introduce your students to databases and search strategies specific to your field. Course-specific web-based library tutorials are also available upon request.

Graduate Thesis Checks

In compliance with Graduate Programs Council (GPC) Policy 09, the library is responsible for verifying that all MSOE Graduate Thesis and Capstone Report documents comply with MSOE's format requirements.

Bindery Service

On a case-by-case basis, the library offers a bindery service for MSOE's faculty and staff interested in having personal copies of books, journals and other items bound in a durable, sturdy, and attractive hardcover binding. Faculty and staff are charged a fee per volume for the service.

Conference Room

The Schroeder Room is an elegant meeting and conference room located on the second floor of the library and across from the Circulation Desk. Featuring physical network connections and wireless access, the room comfortably seats groups of 20 or less in executive seating. Faculty may schedule the room for classes, meetings,or other suitable activities. To reserve the Schroeder Room, please use the online Room Scheduler. The Schroeder Room must be reserved at least 3 days in advance!


Study Rooms

A total of seven study rooms are located on the second floor of the Library. Use of the study rooms is on a first-come, first-served basis, with the exception of Study Rooms 207 and 208, which may be reserved. To reserve a study room, please use the online Room Scheduler.
