Placing Items on Reserve
To place an item on Reserve, you must complete a Reserve Request Form. Please read over the Copyright Policies to ensure the materials you place on Reserve comply with our rules. For more information about the types of materials allowed on Reserve, please see the Common Questions.
The completed Reserve Request Form and reserve materials must be submitted to the Reserve Coordinator at least 24 hours before the items are available to students.
Items placed on Electronic Reserve may take a week to process before they are available to students. If no check out period is selected, the item will only be allowed to circulate for four hours in the Library.
Copyrighted items may not be placed on Reserve for more than one quarter at a time unless permission has been obtained in writing from the copyright holder, in accordance with Copyright Law.
Accessing Reserve Items
During each term, items can be placed on either Electronic Reserve OR Print Reserve- not both.
Items placed on Electronic Reserve are password protected and only available to students enrolled in the course.
Print Reserve materials are kept behind the circulation desk, and they can be checked out using a valid MSOE ID.
Removal of Reserve Items
After the end of each quarter, print Reserve items are removed from the Reserve Area. Reserve items owned by faculty members are returned to them. Items in electronic format will be unavailable after the end of the term.
Usage statistics (the number of times a Reserve item circulates) will be supplied if the faculty member requests the statistics on the Reserve Request Form.
The Library reserves the right to change these Reserve policies at any time.
