Tips for using Academic Search

Tip 1.  Don't limit your searches to full text

Use the power of LinkSource!

LinkSource

Not all of the articles indexed in Academic Search are available in full text, but that doesn't mean that they are unavailable to you. Look for the LinkSource icon and use it when it is available. LinkSource looks through all of the electronic subscriptions owned by MSOE's library to determine if the full text article is available in another database.

The databases that we have access to vary by the types of articles that are available in full-text. Each database has different licenses with journal publishers that may or may not allow them to display complete articles. Therefore, what is available in one database may not be available in another.

MSOE's library also subscribes to hundreds of print journals. The article you are looking for may not be available electronically, but could be available in print at the library. Use the print periodicals list to see if we subscribe to the journal you are looking for.

Finally, if you are unable to find the article you need at MSOE's library, contact Interlibrary Loan and we can order a copy of the article for you. This is a free service for all of MSOE's faculty, staff and students.
