The Independent Automobile Producers 1900-1987 is display of model cars that pays tribute to the Independent Automobile Producers of America. When the American auto industry began around 1900, virtually every manufacturer was an independent. Most were bicycle or buggy shops experimenting with internal combustion engines, steam engines or electric motors. Robust competition drove most of these brands with fanciful names such as Autocycle, Beaver, Buckmoblie, Cyclomobile, and Dixie Flyer from the marketplace. But by the 1920's the "Big Three" emerged from the pack...Ford, General Motors and Chrysler.
