The Library Staff is pleased to announce the acquisition of these databases:
- The Nursing Resource Center with Allied Health from Gale. This database is designed specifically for nursing students, but should also be useful for biomedical engineering students. This database indexes and abstracts nursing and allied health journals, and makes available the full text of most journal articles. However, the database is more than an article database. It also makes available the full text of nursing encyclopedias. It features animations, medical illustrations, disease overviews, drug information, assessment procedures, diagnostic procedures, intervention procedures, and sample care plans. It additionally features NCLEX help documentation and tutorials.
- The Academic Search Complete database. This database is the most comprehensive, multi-disciplinary full-text scholarly journals database currently produced. It features access to scholarly journal literature in the physical sciences, the life sciences, the humanities, religion, literature, philosophy, the social sciences, and other areas. It indexes and abstracts 11,000 scholarly journals: 7,000 of these journals are available in full text, and 6,000 journals are peer-reviewed.
- The Access Newspapers Archives database. This database provides access to millions of searchable newspaper pages (in English), dating as far back as the 1700s. It includes some international coverage. Provided by BadgerLink.
- The Education Research Complete database. This database is the definitive online resource for education research. Topics covered include all levels of education from early childhood to higher education, and all educational specialties, such as multilingual education, health education, and testing. Education Research Complete provides indexing and abstracts for more than 3,000 journals back to 1881, as well as full text for more than 2,000 journals back to 1936, and includes full text for numerous education-related conference papers and more than 500 books and monographs back to 1972. - The Educational Administrative Abstracts features bibliographic records covering areas related to educational administration, including educational leadership, educational management, educational research, and other areas of key relevance to the discipline. The index contains more than 66,000 records, which are carefully selected from the most important sources within the discipline. Provided by BadgerLink.
- The GreenFile database. This database provides well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records. Provided by BadgerLink.
- The History Reference Center database. This database provides full text from more than 2,500 reference books, encyclopedias and non-fiction books, cover to cover full text for nearly 170 leading history periodicals, more than 112,000 historical documents, 113,000 biographies of historical figures, more than 112,000 historical photos and maps, and more than 80 hours of historical video. - The Humanities International Complete database. This database provides full text of hundreds of journals, books and other published sources from around the world. Produced by Whitston Publishing (an imprint of EBSCO Publishing), this database includes all data from Humanities International Index (more than 2,100 journals and 2.47 million records) plus unique full text content, much of which is not found in other databases. - The Lexi-PALS Drug Guide is a database of Patient Advisory Leaflets from Lexi-Comp that provides vital education on medications for patients. The approach for each pamphlet is to present each medication in an easy to follow and understand question-and-answer format. The database consists of over 1,450 medication and natural product leaflets, with an additional 600 Spanish language leaflets representing the most subscribed and commonly used medications. - The Literary Reference Center is a comprehensive literary reference database, which provides users with a broad spectrum of reference information from antiquity to the present day. LRC is a comprehensive database that combines information from over 1,000 books and monographs, major literary encyclopedias and reference works, hundreds of literary journals, and unique sources not available anywhere else.
