About Our Program

Ever since the start of the wars in the Middle East in 2003, MSOE has sent care packages to troops overseas. At first, anyone could send a care package to a soldier or unit stationed there, however, this has since been discontinued. Care packages and letters can only be sent to the troops if they have a specific name and address. At this time, the student activities office collects names from students, staff, faculty alumni, and other members of the MSOE community.

MSOE continually sends care packages to troops overseas three to four times a year with an average of 40-60 care packages in each shipment. By the end of 2009, MSOE will reach the 1,000th care package sent overseas.

Once the soldiers receive the care packages, they typically respond with a note or email. Their message and any photos they include are sent out to the MSOE community via the campus emailing system.
