Employers Expect 2010 Increase in Hiring

Full-Time Hires
20% of employers plan to increase their number of full-time, permanent employees in 2010, up from 14% in 2009. The number of employers who plan to decrease staff also dropped to 9% from 16%.
Variance by Region
Employers in the West expect to see the biggest increase in hiring, although 16% of employers in the Midwest do plan to add full-time workers in 2010.
Top Industries
Hiring is expected to increase in information technology, manufacturing, financial services, professional and business services, and sales in the coming year. Healthcare companies also plan to add staff in 2010.
Job Types
The most common job functions expected to increase are in technology, customer service, sales, research, business development, accounting/finance, and marketing.
