The basic premise is that used book stores and libraries sell business-acumen books for as low as 50 cents. You can find simple tips for improving business in these books. Incorporate those tips and knowledge into the following job search activities:
1) Cover Letter
- - You can attract attention to yourself by incorporating one or two ideas for improving business into your cover letter. Employers will see you as offering new value compared to everyone else.
2) Online Presence
- - Use the knowledge found in the business books to write 5-10 online blog posts. Don't have a blog? Post them as status updates on LinkedIn, Twitter, or even Facebook. Such online activity is a great way to increase your professional presence and profile.
3) Give a Presentation
- - LinkedIn (http://www.linkedin.com) allows you to post PowerPoint presentations right on your profile. Make a presentation using business tips from the books, and it will draw attention to your profile.
