An elevator pitch or speech is a 30-60 second overview of your background and career interests, named for the amount of time you would spend riding an elevator up an office building. It is a great opportunity to make a valuable first impression. Can you deliver your value in such a concise manner? Here are 10 tips to help make your elevator speech professional and well-delivered:
1. You have to “get” what is unique about you.
2. It has to roll off your tongue.
3. One sentence is usually enough.
4. Your second word should be a verb.
5. You have to believe it.
6. Give it attitude.
7. Smile.
8. Shut up.
9. Leave them wanting more.
