Students might be referred for services by instructors, the Learning Resource Center staff, the Counseling Center, TRIO, or by self-referral. The program coordinator will collaborate with Counseling Services and TRIO staff in order to identify students with disabilities and provide them with the appropriate campus services. Since space is limited in the federally-funded TRIO program, University Disability Services was created to accommodate the many other students on campus with disabilities. We’re also planning for the eventual influx of veterans on campus, many of whom will be coping with physical, mental, and/or emotional disabilities.
Services will be promoted through e-mail and campus-wide flyers, which will be sent to all students, faculty and staff. In addition, the Coordinator for University Disability Services and the TRIO Disability Services Coordinator plan to visit academic departments together so they can explain the similarities and differences between their services.
