University Disability Services
The Learning Resource Center offers services for students with disabilities through the University Disability Services Center, located on the 3rd floor of the Cudahy Student Center. Students with disabilities can work with the coordinator or with other LRC staff to coordinate academic accommodations that they may need due to a documented disability, such as Specific Learning Disabilities, Aspergers Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorders, depression or anxiety, as well as all physical disabilities. Students seeking assistance will work with the program coordinator to develop an individual accommodation plan that will encompass all areas of their academic life. These accommodations may include assistance with note-taking, tests online, or testing assistance. Each plan is designed around the individual student’s needs.

Students might be referred for services by instructors, the Learning Resource Center staff, the Counseling Center, TRIO, or by self-referral. The program coordinator will collaborate with Counseling Services and TRIO staff in order to identify students with disabilities and provide them with the appropriate campus services. Since space is limited in the federally-funded TRIO program, University Disability Services was created to accommodate the many other students on campus with disabilities. We’re also planning for the eventual influx of veterans on campus, many of whom will be coping with physical, mental, and/or emotional disabilities.

Services will be promoted through e-mail and campus-wide flyers, which will be sent to all students, faculty and staff. In addition, the Coordinator for University Disability Services and the TRIO Disability Services Coordinator plan to visit academic departments together so they can explain the similarities and differences between their services.
