A nurse practitioner (NP) is available for diagnosis and treatment by referral or by appointment. The NP performs under the scope of practice guidelines as well as the clinical guidelines in child and adult health. Urgent care concerns include but are not limited to:
- Strep throat
- Mononucleosis
- Bronchitis
- Rashes/Skin Disorders
- Urinary tract infections
- Migraines/Headache
- Cough
- Otitis media (Ear infections)
- Upper respiratory infections
- Wound care and suture removal
Nurse practitioners are also able to:
- Prescribe and dispense medications
- Administer allergy and other shots (We would need a medical order from ordering physician and ask that you bring your medication each time.)
- Vaccinate for HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) *Email health@msoe.edu to schedule*
- Psychiatric NP available for diagnosis, treatment, and med checks. *Schedule first with Counseling Services, x7590*
- Evaluate injuries and provide referrals
- Perform Physical exams
- Perform Woman's health exams
- Administer TB (Tuberculosis) skin tests
- Provide wellness advice (Nutrition, exercise, stress reduction)
Health care management includes but is not limited to:
- Asthma
- Diabetes
- Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
- Obesity
- Wound care
Other health care screenings and management:
- Blood abnormalities
- Hypertension
- Pregnancy
- Sexually transmitted diseases
Nurse Practitioner
Cost
There will be a fee for NP services, labs, other diagnostics
and medications. The goal is to keep these at a price savings as compared to
services in the community. Fees will be charged to Student Accounts. All
students enrolled with our student health insurance will be covered 100% for
all services and medications through MSOE Health Services.

A voluntary accident and sickness-only insurance plan is
available through the university. Please visit www.uhcsr.com for plan benefits,
eligibility and enrollment information.
All students are encouraged to have their own insurance card
or a copy with them at all times to facilitate medical care in the community.
Health
Records/Confidentiality
Health Services requires a comprehensive health/immunization
record on each student. Medical records are confidential and will not be
released without written consent. Required health records and forms may be found here.
