MSOE students were actively involved in the design of the new medical clinic at Repairers of the Breach
(ROTB) homeless shelter in Milwaukee. MSOE’s School of Nursing began a partnership with ROTB in
2007. Since that time, several clinical groups (and dozens of MSOE nursing students) have worked at
ROTB doing health assessments, screenings and referrals.
The new space was designed in part by industrial engineering graduate Chris Maramba ’09, who
completed the AutoCad drawings reflecting design elements collaboratively developed by several
volunteers, including MSOE Professor Emeritus Lawrence Korta.
The clinic was funded by private donations totaling $90,000 and serves the entire community. Through
collaboration with Dr. Merlita Biese and MacCanon Brown at ROTB, this partnership has provided
valuable real-world experience to MSOE students.
