The Mathematics Department at MSOE offers core courses in pre-calculus, calculus, differential equations and statistics; client department courses in discrete mathematics, vector analysis and linear programming; electives in advanced differential equations, complex variables and Laplace transforms; and graduate courses in linear algebra, complex variables, differential equations and statistics.
Emphasis is placed on practical problem solving skills rather than formal mathematics.
A Minor in Mathematics is available if you want to strengthen your major specialty, increase your attractiveness to potential employers and/or to enhance your preparedness for graduate school.
The Mathematics Department also works with students to produce the fun yet mentally challenging publication Brain Waves. Brain Waves is filled with mathematical riddles, puzzles and problems submitted by students, faculty and staff.
The main Mathematical Department office is located in L-328 of the Schroeder Library. The department chairman is Dr. Karl David.
