My last position was at a STEM teaching and learning laboratory.  A big part of my job was getting kids interested in STEM and eventually STEM careers.  It's tough, so often that natural curiosity from younger children is scared out of them with fears of bad grades and pleasing other (especially young girls.)  It's disheartening that the trend continues, especially in a global market and the competition with other countries.
