Portion of Kern Center to posthumously honor alumnus

A portion of the Kern Center, MSOE's athletic, health and wellness center that opened in 2004, was recently dedicated posthumously to an MSOE alumnus and his wife.

Rosenberg Pavilion, a reception area just inside the center's main doors on Broadway, was named in honor of the late Dr. Kenneth R. Rosenberg, a 1950 electrical engineering alumnus, and his wife, Doris.

Kenneth, who died in 2002, dedicated his passion and hard work for many years to the success of Northwestern Elevator Co., which grew into a multimillion-dollar endeavor in a highly competitive environment.

He contributed his leadership and expertise to the MSOE Corporation for nearly 20 years and demonstrated his commitment to educational excellence through the Kenneth and Doris Rosenberg Endowment fund, which benefits countless MSOE students. Through the generosity of the Rosenbergs, MSOE purchased and then renovated Rosenberg Hall, a building on Milwaukee Street where the Rader School of Business is housed.

For his commitment to his alma mater Rosenberg received the Outstanding Alumnus Award in 1997 from the MSOE Alumni Association and was honored with a doctor of engineering degree in 1999.

He enjoyed and loved visiting Door County for many years, as well as retiring to Naples, Florida. His memory lives on in the many people his life touched, especially his wife, Doris, children Susan Wolniakowski and Paul Rosenberg, and grandchildren.
