Newly elected Regents will help guide MSOE

MSOE welcomes three to its Board of Regents and 11 to its Corporation; these leaders will help shape the university's future:

 

Michael J. Barber '82 is general manager of Diagnostic Imaging-Technology and Imaging Subsystems at GE Healthcare (GEHC). Barber has held various engineering and operations leadership positions at GEHC, including GM of Diagnostic X-ray Engineering, leading a team of over 300 engineers located in Milwaukee, Paris, Budapest and Beijing. In 2003, Barber was named GM of the Global Components Operation. Barber and his team of over 1,200 employees are responsible for the design and production of imaging subsystem HW for CT Tubes and Detectors, X-ray Tubes and Flat Panel Detectors. Barber's role was expanded in April 2005 to lead the Global Technology Organization covering all Diagnostic Imaging products.

 

Barber, who received his B.S. in electrical engineering from MSOE in 1982, is completing a two-year term as one of three national operating leaders for GE's African American Forum. He is married to MSOE Corporation Member Jacqueline Herd-Barber '84 and has two children, Lauren (15) and Justin (13). Barber served as an MSOE Corporation member since October 2003. In September 2005, he hosted an alumni event at GEHC.

 

 

Dwight Diercks '90 is vice president of Software Engineering at NVIDIA, a market leader in graphics and digital media processors. He joined NVIDIA in 1994 and has helped it grow from a startup company to a $2.5 billion business. Prior to NVIDIA, Diercks worked at Pellucid Inc., a PC graphics company founded by Compaq and SGI engineers. From May 1990 to July 1992, Diercks was a multimedia software engineer at Compaq Computer Corp. He holds a B.S. in computer engineering from MSOE. Diercks served as an MSOE Corporation member since October 2002. He hosted an Alumni Chapter Event at NVIDIA in November 2005.

 

 

Timothy W. Sullivan, president and CEO of Bucyrus International Inc., has held various positions of responsibility in the areas of product management, subsidiary operations, business development, marketing and sales since starting there in 1976. In 2000, Sullivan was elected president and chief operating officer and appointed to the board of directors. In March 2004, Sullivan was elected to the position of president and chief executive officer.

 

Sullivan holds a B.S. in business administration from Carroll College of Waukesha, Wis., and an M.B.A. from American Graduate School of International Management of Glendale, Ariz. In addition to his board of director duties with Bucyrus, he currently sits on the boards of Foundations Bank of Waukesha County, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Milwaukee and St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care of Milwaukee. He also is on the Board of the National Mining Association and a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining. Sullivan and his wife, Vivian, live in the Milwaukee area.

Thomas J. Bond '67

Consultant

Bond is a 1967 MSOE graduate. He recently retired as vice president of Global Fuels Technology for BP. He lives in Chardon, Ohio.

 

Ken Evason

President and CEO

Jacobus Wealth Management

Evason is active in industry and serves on a number of for-profit and non-profit boards. Continuing the leadership exhibited by Jacobus Wealth Management Founder and MSOE Regent, Dr. Richard Jacobus, Evason has a strong interest in continuous learning and supporting quality educational programs such as those at MSOE.

 

Lorraine Lynn Hoffmann

CEO and President

Harri Hoffmann Co.

Hoffman retired from Merrill Lynch in 2001, returning to Milwaukee to run the family business, Harri Hoffmann Co. She is extremely active in the non-profit communities in Milwaukee and Chicago.

 

Peter Lentz

Executive Vice President

Plumbing, Mechanical, Sheet Metal Contractor's Alliance

Lentz is the executive vice president at Plumbing, Mechanical, Sheet Metal Contractor's Alliance. The association provides a variety of safety services and resources for its local and national members. Additionally the association promotes safety-related programs sponsored by organizations such as the Milwaukee Construction Industry Safety Council, the Wisconsin Underground Contractors Association and the Wisconsin Safety Council.

 

Gregory J. McCormack '85, '90

Senior Vice President

ACCO Brands Corp.

McCormack earned his B.S. from MSOE in 1985 and his master's degree in engineering management from MSOE in 1990. He lives with his family in Muskego, Wis.

 

Darrell Middleton

Vice President, Human Resources

Johnson Controls Inc.

Middleton is the vice president of human resources at Johnson Controls Inc. The company is a global market leader in automotive systems and facility management and control. In the automotive market, it is a major supplier of seating and interior systems, and batteries. For nonresidential facilities, Johnson Controls provides building control systems and services, energy management and integrated facility management. Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), founded in 1885, has headquarters in Milwaukee, Wis.

 

Allen F. Radtke Jr. '61

Retired President

Simone Engineering Inc.

Radtke is retired president of Simone Engineering Inc. Radtke holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from MSOE in 1961. He served as a guest lecturer for the Rader School of Business' Uihlein/Spitzer Chair of Entrepreneurship.

 

Robert E. Rogers '86

Senior Vice President

Norlight Telecommunications

Rogers, a 1986 graduate of MSOE, is vice president of Norlight Telecommunications, which has 33 years in the telecommunications business. His son, Brian, graduated from MSOE in 2000. Rogers lives in Hubertus, Wis.

 

Wolfgang A. Schmidt, Ph.D.

Dr. Schmidt formerly owned a manufacturing business, which afforded him international management experience over the last two decades. He is very active in the non-profit community, particularly focused on education and international affairs.
